Tinder Expands Beyond Dating With Launch of ‘Social’ Feature for Group Connections

Tinder has made a major move beyond dating. The popular app has launched Tinder Social, a new feature designed to connect groups to other groups for big hangouts.

“Sometimes you want more than a party of two,” the company explains. “Often your best nights are when you’re hanging with friends, someone makes an unexpected connection with someone in another crew, and your two crews have an amazing time together.”

Message your matches, see where they’re going, make a plan or just find out where people are headed, meet up and have fun. Twilight concert in the park? Find out who will be there before you go. Pub crawl tonight? The more the merrier. Just going out for cocktails? Find out who’s going where and then easily connect once you get there. Just remember—at noon the next day, your group expires, your matches disappear, and your Uber turns into a pumpkin.

You have to unlock Tinder Social to use it. Once you do, you’ll see your friends who’ve also unlocked it and they’ll see you, says Tinder.

More than 26 million matches occur on Tinder per day.
