Who are you?
I’m a software developer and business geek who returned to Vancouver in 2008 after spending four years as a product manager in the fabled Silicon Valley™.
What’s your background?
I’ve got a BASc in Engineering, and an MBA. I’ve lived in five countries in the past decade (Canada, USA, Ireland, Anguilla, United Kingdom). I’ve helped raise $10M in venture capital funding. I’ve built enterprise products that pulled in millions of dollars of revenue. And I’ve failed a lot along the way. Watch and learn kids.
Why are you writing for Techvibes?
Canada, and Vancouver in particular, has a unique opportunity to become technology leaders – except we’re really taking our damn time doing it. My hope is to share my experience, inspire some confidence, and, if necessary, dispense a swift spiritual kick to the head that alters your reality forever.
Why should I care what you have to say?
You should care because, as a technologist, you’ve always thought about defecting from Vancouver to the greener pastures Silicon Valley – and I’m going to tell you why that’s a Really Bad Idea.
Anything you need to disclose?
Other than an unhealthy addiction to nerd-focused entertainment products? Nope - though I will declare any conflict arising from my interactions with my clients as necessary.
If you’re such a technology nut, where’s your web site?
Very funny. You can also find me, my writing, and my various projects at www.brendonwilson.com.
