The GROW Conference is Moving to Whistler This Year

GROW, which over the past four years has become Vancouver's biggest and best annual startup event, is moving to Whistler for 2014.

The multi-day conference, which grew from humble beginnings to boast well over 1,000 attendees last year, is changing locations from the downtown core of Vancouver to Whistler Village, a resort city roughly two hours north.

"Whistler is uniquely positioned to become the most 'connected' resort in the world," explain organizers, who pointed out that the slogan for this year's GROW is "the future of connected devices."

"75 miles from Vancouver and nestled within the Coast mountains, Whistler Village’s size and location make it the perfect backdrop to experience the latest connected devices," organizers added.

GROW, which has previously featured prominent speakers such as Zappos' Tony Hsieh and Uber's Garrett Camp, is poised to look a lot different this year: while the conference has always featured physical activity on its post-event recreation days, this year's even seems to deeply integrate "experiences" with sessions from the get-go. For example, there will be "mountaintop trail talks" and early-morning fitness challenges to battle-test wearable tech, as well as "Gondola Talks," which will be sessions that start with a 25-minute mountain ascension and end with a mountaintop barbeque.

One thing will remain the same though—timing. The event will be held from August 20 to 22, on par with prior years.

Tickets will be $395 (with an early-bird two-for-one deal available) when they go on sale April 7.
