Jim Balsillie, Former CEO of BlackBerry, Sells Entire Stake in Company

One year ago, Jim Balsillie owned 26.8 million shares of BlackBerry (then Research In Motion). Today, he owns approximately zero.

The former co-CEO of BlackBerry revealed via an SEC filing that he has sold his entire stake in the company. He was one of BlackBerry’s largest shareholders even after he stepped down alongside Mike Lazaridis as co-CEOs in 2012.

BlackBerry launched BB10 under the helm of Thorsten Heins last month. Under Heins’ reign, BlackBerry has done well by most measures, although its stock price is exactly where it sat one year ago.

Shares in BlackBerry are up 3% in trading today.
