John Sechrest

 

John Sechrest is an active collaborator in the tech business startup scene in Oregon and is actively exploring Seattle. He has been an HP engineer helping create one of the first networked calculators. He taught networking, system adminstration and web design classes at Oregon State University for several years as a part of engaging students in experiencial learning. He started a public email service inside the University which was spun out to create an ISP. Starting and then selling a business (for a profit), started the exploration of the Tech Startup world.

He currently is the Economic Development Director for Benton County/Corvallis, Oregon. He actively supports the local Entrepreneurs program, the SWOT Business Facilitation Group, And the WVIN local Angel Investors group. He is on the board of the Business Enterprise Center, the local business accelerator.

John is actively connecting the tech startup activities in Corvallis with work in Portland at OEN and with projects in Seattle like SixHourStartup and he is working to explore the startup process all through-out the Northwest.
