Yahoo to Employees: No BlackBerrys Allowed Here!

The new chief executive officer of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer, hates BlackBerrys.

This story is typical of Research In Motion’s recent misfortunes. During the week of Apple’s mind-blowing iPhone preorders, Waterloo’s RIM is getting punched in the gut by Yahoo.

Basically, Marissa announced “Yahoo Smart Phones, Smart Fun,” a terribly named program in which “Yahoo is moving off of blackberries [sic] as our corporate phones and on to smartphones in 22 countries,” according to a leak via Business Insider. Apparently BlackBerrys aren’t even smartphones now.

The devices that Yahoo will be giving employees include the iPhone 5, Android handsets including the Samsung Galaxy S III, and even Nokia’s upcoming flagship phone, the Lumia 920 – which runs on Windows. BlackBerry has really sunk to the bottom of the barrel in Marissa’s eyes.
