I profiled Akoha earlier today, but there’s another Canadian company at TechCrunch50: Praized Media, also from Montreal. They weren’t eligible to present on stage (having already publicly launched), but did get to show off to the masses in the DemoPit.
Praized is a distributed local search platform that works with blogs and other social services to unite ratings and reviews about places. They have 17 million listings for Canada. The US, and the service is free for the publishers, supported by localized, contextual ads. Praized launched just two months ago.
Last month, Praized was selected for Red Herring’s Canada Top 50 Award. They’ve also been climbing the ranks on our Techvibes Startup Indexes: #11 in Montreal and #70 in Canada; not bad for two months after launch.
