Vitamin Daily, a Vancouver-based online magazine that targets trendy urban women with the latest-and-greatest lifestyles news has launched in Calgary and started a second Montreal, French-only edition. The Vancouver edition has been around since 2004, its longevity signalling the thriving online women’s market. Much like the US site Daily Candy, the subscription-based site sends daily emails to those who sign up, giving them the scoop about what’s hot in their city. Vitmamin Daily’s competitor, Toronto-based Sweetspot is also expanding. It launched a new home-focused brand Sweethome on March 1. Sweetspot Inc. was acquired by Rogers (minorty stakeholders) in 2006 and was named one of Canada’s 50 most profitable companies in 2008.
