Vancouver’s own Strutta has a new boss, former Yahoo! Ben Pickering. As someone who took charge of Yahoo’s first foray into User Generated Content (UGC), Pickering knows a thing or two about online promotions and contests, Strutta’s niche. Pickering also ran strategic initiatives for Yahoo’s display advertising business.
So the move to Strutta is a natural fit, given that the site has established itself as a platform delivering scalable online contests and promotions.
“I know from personal experience at Yahoo and eBay that there’s a huge and growing opportunity in this space, and Strutta is uniquely positioned to deliver,” Pickering said.
He added the change in scenery from Silicon Valley was a “bit of a change,” but that he was pleasantly surprised to find such a vibrant tech community already in place.
Founder Danny Robinson will remain the chairman of Strutta, and had nothing but praise for the new CEO.
“I know that Ben has the drive, the leadership and the experience needed to accelerate our growth and take Strutta to the next level,” Robinson said.
