Devshop, an Ottawa-based project management tool for developers will be shutting down at the end of April 2010.

In a farewell message posted on the company’s site, found Craig Fitzpatrick notes lack of funding to grow as the reason for the closure.

“Timing is everything as they say, and without the ability to properly fund the company through its next stage of growth, the time has run out,” wrote Fitzpatrick.

Devshop has been running for the past five years, but may live on. In a posting on his personal blog, Fitzpatrick expressed his interested in releasing the source code as an open-source project.

As well as running Devshop, Fitzpatrick is also vice-president of products for social media metrics app SWIX.
