Picture yourself in a race against time battling an arch-nemesis who’s hell-bent on killing you as others watch. Or how about the shoes (or rather, sandals) of a Roman gladiator in the Colosseum, as 50,000 people wait to watch you squirm and struggle slowly?
Alright, relocate 4500 miles westwards to Waterloo, Ontario and register to attend Ignite Waterloo 3. It’s free, and although they can’t promise bloodlust and gore, they can promise a selection of speakers to “capture the best of geek culture in Waterloo.”
The catch? Everything has to tie up neatly in 5 minutes.
Inspired by the popular presentation format pioneered by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis of Seattle, Washington, Ignite speakers race against an insidious powerpoint slide deck that transitions slides every 15 seconds. The bane of many a speaker, and the blessing of a fortunate few, Ignite has the potential to launch a speaking career – including yours.
Got knowledge? Do share, but make it quick.
Here’s a sneak preview of some of the slated talks:
- “How a $40 Burger Can Change the World” – Anshula Chowdhury
- “Management Madness: Exploring the art of management and what separates the best managers from the worst managers.” – Evan Thor
- “Three Things You Should Know about Education and Oppression” – Kate Daley
Registration is free, and attendees (me included) will have an opportunity to rub shoulders and network with some of Kitchener-Waterloo’s young up-and-coming tech creatives.
With 185 seats already gone, you’re still welcome to join us – just make it quick.
