Originally from Calgary, Kevin Jagger, the youngest of four brothers, grew up in Vancouver and attended Vancouver College. Named Lower Mainland Student-Athlete of the Year upon graduation, Jagger lettered in four varsity sports with the Fighting Irish (football, basketball, rowing and track & field).
Jagger attended McGill University where he played Strong Safety and Kick Returner for the Redmen. After graduating from the Desautels Faculty of Management with a Finance degree and Distinction honors, he spent three years with Citi Global Markets as a Financial Analyst covering the Canadian Financial & Renewable Energy sectors.
After watching the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics up close and personal, Jagger has quit his job to train full-time in the hopes of one day representing Canada in Long Track Speed Skating. And get this… he’s never even tried the sport before.
On Long Track Long Shot, Jagger will be documenting his journey to the 2014 Olympic Games and he’s using social media to drum up support, sponsors and create a fan base. Not a surprise considering his brother is Sociable co-author Stephen Jagger. He’s hoping his unique sponsorship platform that includes a window into his training regiment will encourage sponsors to become a part of the story instead of just being passive audience.
Check out Jagger’s journey online and follow him on Twitter at @KevinJagger. Show your support by buying a $25 Team Provident t-shirt so that Jagger can purchase of a pair of $1200 long track speed skates. If you live in the Lower Mainland, Jagger will hand deliver your t-shirt and you’ll get a chance to meet a future Olympian?
