In May we reported that Ben Yoskovitz’s startup Standout Jobs had been acquired and since then many have been wondering what would be next for Yoskovitz. Now we know.
Yesterday Yoskovitz announced that he and a team that includes Phil Telio, Sylvain Carle and Patrick Tanguay are launching NextMontreal.com – a news and opinion site for Montreal technology.
NextMontreal won’t be exclusively about Web and mobile startups. Certainly the team involved spends most of their time in that world, but we want to expand NextMontreal to cover a much broader range of technology: gaming, life sciences, etc. We won’t get perfect coverage – there’s just too much going on – but our goal is to get substantial coverage across multiple tech sectors and communities in Montreal.
This announcement shouldn’t come as much of a surprise as Yoskovitch instigated the return of Montreal Tech Watch in April but ultimately believed that the Montreal tech community needed a more consistent voice.
Yoskovitz has secured sponsors and although he isn’t naming them yet it’s safe to assume that hometown Montreal Startup and iNovia Capital will be involved. The site isn’t live yet but you can stay up-to-date by following NextMontreal on Twitter.
