Toronto social gaming company SocialDeck has been acquired by Google for an undisclosed price.
SocialDeck creates games that allow for simultaneous, viral multiplayer game play across a variety of mobile devices and social networks. It had more than one million mobile downloads last year.
The company’s games include Shake and Spell and Pet Hero.
“SocialDeck’s team and technology is a perfect addition to our current team of engineers in Waterloo, to continue to innovate in the social and mobile web,” said Google Canada spokeswoman Wendy Rozeluk.
Founded in 2008, SocialDeck presented at StartupCamp Toronto in April of that year.
SocialDeck raised its first financing round from the BlackBerry Partners Fund in March 2009. The company’s core team splits its time between Toronto and San Francisco.
