Gerri Sinclair has been appointed Special Advisor on Digital Media at Ryerson University, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Recognized as a top researcher and theorist in the area of digital media, Sinclair will work with students, faculty, researches and senior management at Ryerson to advance the university’s emerging position as a leader in digital media innovation and commercialization.
Ryerson’s approach to digital media is unique, and responds directly to the need for a powerful digital economy strategy in Canada. At the Digital Media Zone, the university is fostering the natural entrepreneurial spirit of students and young people and helping them bring their ideas quickly to market. Across the university, researchers are developing new models of market-driven transdisciplinary collaboration. It’s a very exciting time to be working with Ryerson, and I look forward to making a contribution.
Sinclair was most recently Founder and CEO of the Centre for Digital Media at Great Northern Way Campus (GNWC) in Vancouver. Under her direction, GNWC launched its two-year Masters in Digital Media program in 2007, graduating its first and second wave of students in 2009 and 2010.
