A new program from the federal government seeks to unearth innovations from Canadian companies, and two open-house events on the West Coast will give developers an opportunity to showcase those innovations.

The Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP), a new federal initiative announced in Budget 2010, is looking for new, Canadian innovations that have not yet been sold commercially. The $40 million program will provide funding for the testing and purchasing of these innovations by departments of the federal government.

If you are involved in the creation of innovative new products that the federal government may want to purchase, Vancouver and Victoria will be hosting two events to look at your products:

  • On October 13th at the Coast Plaza Hotel in Vancouver, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • On October 14th at the Vancouver Island Technology Park (#2201 – 4464 Markham St.), from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In addition, there will be representatives from National Research Council (NRC) providing information about the Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) and from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regarding the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Tax Incentive Program.

Registration for these events is required by October 8th; contact Byron Scheffler by email to reserve your spot.
