On Canadian Thanksgiving, Microsoft announced the global unveiling of the Windows Phone 7. We announced this news on Techvibes.
Today, we share with you 7 reasons the Windows Phone 7 will come to dominate the global mobile marketplace this holiday season.
1. Variety of models and carriers to choose from.
South of the 49th, AT&T and T-Mobile will carry a total of 5 different devices. Here in Canada, Telus will be carrying the HTC 7 Surround and the LG Optimus 7 Windows Phone. Bell will offer the LG Optimus Quantum and Rogers will be carrying Samsung Focus.
2. Personal and custom home screen.
The customizable Start screen with Live Tiles is a personal experience, showing people their own content from online calenders, social and RSS feeds.
3. Xbox LIVE.
Windows Phone 7 is the first phone to put the power of Xbox LIVE into the palm of people’s hands. As part of Microsoft’s managed portfolio of Xbox LIVE titles, all Electronic Arts games for Windows Phone 7 will be Xbox LIVE-enabled.
4. Zune music player.
People will be able to play their music collections, synced wirelessly from their PC, or stream or download video from the new Windows Marketplace.
5. Simple Search.
Similar to BlackBerry’s Torch, the Windows Phone 7 Search feature helps people find what they need, whether in contacts, in Marketplace, in e-mail or on the Web. The Search button delivers Bing for mobile, delivering Web results, local information, maps, directions and more.
6. Windows Live.
The Windows Live solution helps people manage pictures, Windows Live calendar, Office OneNote Mobile and more. Also, the free Find My Phone service can remotely ring, lock, erase and show the location of your phone on a map.
7. Available in time for Christmas holiday season.
With the back to school season already well over, the next big obvious retail season is Christmas. With Microsoft announcing that many of their partners will start offering the Windows Phone 7 to customers in time for the holiday season, there is no doubt that Android, BlackBerry and the iPhone will face stiff competition in the coming months.
