Shares of Richmond’s MacDonald Dettwiler jumped nearly 10% today on speculation the company was for sale.
MacDonald Dettwiler is best known for creating the Canadarm used on NASA space shuttles.
The company said in a statement it was not evaluating the sale of its systems division, which makes satellite, robotics and defense technology.
MacDonald Dettwiler also has a products group, which distributes legal, real estate, satellite and aerial data.
MacDonald Dettwiler tried to sell their robotics and satellite business back in 2008 but the attempt was blocked by the Canadian government.
