In September Montreal-based startup Shwowp was one of 25 startups from nearly 1,000 applicants that were selected to present at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.
Shwowp is a tool to help you take control of your shopping history: organize it, share it and track how you influence others. Shwowp’s aim is to democratize shopping data – building tools to help people understand and leverage it to increase their power as customers. This data will become more and more valuable as time goes on and someone needs to balance the power back to the customer. That someone is Shwowp.
They ended up being a finalist and yesterday announced that their social purchase sharing platform is now open to their 2000+ waiting list.
Founded by author Tara Hunt, Cassandra Girard and Jerome Paradis, Shwowp organizes consumer data in order to help vendors better target discounts and promotions while helping consumers control their purchase information.
Users can now forward all receipts and order confirmations to firstname.lastname@example.org as well as directly upload them via the site. Shwowp will then aggregate the information, allowing users to add photos, comments, track trends and share their shopping history with friends through Twitter, Facebook and email.
Look for Shwowp to add 50 new stores per week to its database and open the service up to the masses later this month.
