In the Northwest Division of the National Hockey League, the Vancouver Canucks and the Calgary Flames are on opposite ends of the success spectrum. While the Canucks are hitting their stride in recent outings, working on a three-game win streak, the Calgary Flames are struggling to keep out of last place.
But while these teams may not be seeing the same results on the ice, they are pursuing a similar method of interacting with fans: in the past weeks, both the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames have gone mobile with apps from Atimi Software.
This is the first official app for the Flames, but for the Canucks, it is more of a major upgrade. The apps have features like player cards; news, scores, schedules, standings and statistics; photos and videos; stadium information for Rogers Arena and the Saddledome; and social media integration, including a message board and Facebook and Twitter tools.
“Fans want more than the latest scores and the standard other features,” said Atimi vice-president Scott Michaels. “The goal is a real connection to the team by the fans that you are fostering, building and nurturing. This means engaging features to connect fans to each other as well as the team on multiple levels.”
The apps are available free for iPhone and Blackberry through the App Store and App World. For more information on Atimi Software, click here.
