Amazon’s e-reader, the Kindle, is now the online retailer giant’s best-selling product of all time.
Toronto’s Kobo Inc., a subsidiary of the Chapters/Indigo chain, maker of competing e-reader Kobo, saw many of its device accessories sell out in online retailers and in stores across Canada.
Barnes & Noble, with their e-reader, the Nook, was reportedly sold out at many retailers as Christmas shoppers went all-out for these products.
Sony didn’t mention anything about its e-readers, but it also has a much less vested interest in the e-reader space than the above three companies, which are all heavily involved in the declining printed book industry, where e-books may be the saviour.
