Calgary-based Poynt Corp.’s mobile local search app Poynt has reached one billion interactions, defined as “search queries and resulting actions.”
The app, whose data allows for searches in the areas of Businesses, People, Movies, Events, Gas, Restaurants and Weather, has nearly 6.5 million uses and is now growing a rate of 30,000 new users per day. The app was recently featured on television as a BlackBerry “super app.”
“The combination of Poynt’s user number and transaction records is extremely powerful for determining consumer behavior,” said Alistair Hill, Co-Founder of On Device Research. “The potential to target advertising by areas of known interest to the user, or deliver information on where and when users are searching for a particular retailer can be invaluable for marketing and planning purposes.”
