This is getting ugly.
Sony has suffered yet another online security breach. Fortunately, the magnitude of this one is much lower than that of the PlayStation Network hack—2,000 customers from the Sony Ericsson Canadian eShop website have had personal information compromised.
Names, emails, and passwords have been stolen but no credit card information, according to Sony. The breach was discovered yesterday. An investigation is underway.
Over 100 million online accounts were (and still are) affected by a hacking of Sony’s PlayStation Network, its online gaming service for its core console. Following that, an additional 8,500 user accounts were afflicted by a security breach on Sony’s music entertainment website in Greece.
Sony’s stock dropped on the news.
