QR barcore scanning has grown by a spectacular 9,840 pecent from the second quarter of 2010 to the second quarter of 2011, according to a report called The Naked Facts: Impulse Edition, released by Vancouver’s Mobio Technologies.

The wild growth rate for QR codes is occurring because it turns static media into dynamic media, experts say, making offline and otherwise mundane online media into interactive portals that let consumers tap into extra content easily but engagingly.

In a space initially dominated by females in the 25 to 44 age group, younger males are now claiming a stake in the scanning world, although it’s difficult to tell why.

QR codes are simple and cheap for companies to adopt and can initially begin with existing platforms like a Facebook page.
