Rovio’s Angry Birds and Starbucks don’t really seem like a natural fit, but hey, they’re both already everywhere, so why not?
Bloomberg found out through an interview that senior vice president Wibe Wagemans is pushing to see electronic leader boards inside of Starbucks cafes to promote top-scoring players. In-store promotions would be a part of the deal.
They’re both ambitious brands, so on that level this makes sense. Angry Birds started as a mobile game but as quickly become plush toys, clothing, and even a theme park. What’s adding a few (thousand) cafes to that roster?
