AOL Canada and the Huffington Post Media Group (HPMG) announced announced their plan to launch Le Huffington Post Québec.
The announcement comes six months after the debut of The Huffington Post Canada, the first international version of The Huffington Post. The new site will combine HuffPost’s powerful platform with local expertise and a strong Quebec-based editorial network.
The Canadian arm of HPMG, led by Brad Cressman and Managing Editor Kenny Yum, is recruiting an editorial team in preparation for its January launch.
“We’re excited to roll out Le Huffington Post Québec to extend HuffPost’s reach to all Canadians, both French and English speaking, and to deliver a nationwide HuffPost offering to our advertisers,” said Graham Moysey, General Manager AOL Canada. “And we’re continuing to invest in Canadian editorial teams to deliver engaging and compelling stories, opinion, video, and more to the Canadian audience.”
The Huffington Post is part of the Huffington Post Media Group, a leading source of news, opinion, entertainment, community and digital information comprised of a diverse network of destination websites, including The Huffington Post, The Huffington Post Canada, Moviefone, Engadget, TechCrunch, StyleList, and MapQuest.
The Huffington Post Canada has seen double digit growth in the country since it launched in May, and now has more than 1.8 million unique visitors a month, per comScore. According to their press release today, more than 200,000 unique visitors from Quebec visit the site, a number that’s grown 26% since the site launched.
