Just in time for today’s semi-final game between Canada and Russia, Hockey Canada has launched a new mobile web experience to celebrate the IIHF World Junior Championship in Alberta.

Created and executed by Vancouver mobile marketing agency iamota and sponsored by Telus, the bilingual mobile site is the go-to resource for hockey fans, providing access to schedules, scores, news and team information.

Part of the mobile web experience is a “Ultimate Team Canada Starting 6” contest, where hockey fans select their all-time National Junior Team starting line-up. It’s no easy task with fans having to make tough choices between Sakic, Yzerman, Crosby, Lemieux, and Lindros. To promote the contest Hockey Canada is asking hockey players and pundits like Vancouver’s Green Men for their Starting 6.

Contest prizes include tickets to the 2012 bronze and gold medal games and even a trip to Ufa, Russia for the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship.

By participating, hockey fans will also be raising money for charity. For each Starting 6 selection, Telus will donate $1 to the Hockey Canada Foundation, which helps make the dream to play hockey a reality for economically disadvantaged youth across Canada. By sharing their Starting 6 on Facebook or Twitter, fans will prompt Telus to give another dollar to help the next generation of Canadians play Canada’s game.
