The latest from CES 2012: Ottawa-based JetStreamHD, a stand-alone device for converting and streaming digital videos, songs, and photos to the iPad, now streams live TV, the company has stated:
Now you can also use JetStreamHD to stream live TV. The Live TV tuner stick connects between a digital antenna or cable feed and a USB port on your JetStreamHD box. Then the JetStreamHD iPad app lets you enjoy all the over-the-air or unencrypted cable TV channels that are received at your home. No computer or television is required.
For those of you who don’t know how JetStream works, a box plugs into your home router and discovers the media on a directly connected USB drive or any computer, media server, or NAS on your network. Then, when you want to view something on your iPad, JetStreamHD converts it on-the-fly into an iPad-friendly format and adapts the bit-rate as it streams.
“People love how JetStreamHD let’s them use their iPad—anywhere in the world—to instantly enjoy any video, song, or photo stored back in the privacy of their house,” states Grant Hall, CEO of Ottawa-based Nuvyyo Inc. “They also love that they don’t pay monthly fees or need to have a computer turned on at home. Now they can use their iPad from anywhere to watch live TV, never missing their local TV news, sports or favorite show.”
The JetStreamHD Live TV option, which includes the USB tuner stick and a digital antenna, will be available beginning in March for $69 or bundled with the JetStreamHD Mobile Media Streamer hardware for $199.
