Many investors grew a distaste for Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie in recent years, as did most consumers who actually followed the company that closely. Now it’s been revealed that not even Research In Motion’s own employees were pleased with the dual-CEOs.
A survey of well over 100 RIM employees, conducted by career insights website Glassdoor, found that the CEOs left on a rather sour note. Just 48% of RIM employees gave Mike and Jim an approval rating, substantially lower than the 62% average for chief execs.
The new CEO is the 6-foot-6, Munich-born Thorsten Heins. With 27 years of telecom experience, including 4 years with RIM, Thorsten has been ushered in by investors with a stock sinking 8.5% on news of his arrival. Welcome to the top, big guy.
