According to Research In Motion, consumers are much more likely to download paid apps when the carriers support integrated billing.
The Waterloo-based BlackBerry maker says that carriers, on average, “experience a 120% increase in BlackBerry app purchases by their customers.”
On top of that, RIM says that up to 70% of their customers’ purchases are transacted through the carrier when it supports integrated billing.
“There are clear business benefits for mobile operators when implementing carrier billing, since it enables them to build upon existing billing relationships with customers,” Dario Talmesio, Principal Analyst, Informa Telecoms & Media, said. “RIM has always adopted a strategy of working constructively with operators. It follows therefore that implementing carrier billing through BlackBerry App World represents a rich opportunity for carriers.”

In Canada, Rogers, Telus, and Bell support integrated carrier billing for their customers on BlackBerry App World. More than 40 carriers support it globally.
