It’s not particularly easy to search for mobile apps based on your personal tastes. AppHero, a Toronto-based web startup, hopes to solve this problem.

AppHero helps users discover relevant mobile apps. It scans your Facebook account, then intelligently recommends apps you’ll love, the startup claims.

Over time, AppHero becomes smarter, as it learns more about your preferences and habits. The company touts its service online:

Saves you time and money: Great apps are hard to come by. Often, you waste time and money downloading a couple apps before settling on one that’s right for you. AppHero only recommends the most relevant apps to you.

Learn from your friends: App purchasing is a social activity, so it’s important that your friends are involved in your app discovery. AppHero knows what apps your friends have, and finds you the best apps using this knowledge.

Always learning: AppHero is constantly learning about you through your interactions with recommendations. Once you download an app, or if you dislike a recommendation, it won’t show you apps with identical functionality.

Real-time: Great apps are released everyday, and AppHero tracks new apps in real-time, giving you the latest, most up-to-date recommendations.

AppHero is a free download for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. An Android version is in the works but no timeline is available.
