Growth Equity is a relatively new term to describe the investors that fund companies beyond the point where traditional venture capitalists usually invest (seed and Series A rounds).

This type of capital has not been very accessible for Canadian technology companies over the past decade but times are changing.

Two new growth equity funds in Canada have made six large investments in B.C. companies in the past 24 months and they’re participating in the Vancouver Enterprise Forum’s September 18th event to discuss later stage financing.

Moderated by Capital West Partners‘ Brent Holliday, the VEF’s panel will include:

  • BuildDirect’s John Sotham.
  • Zymeworks’ Dr. Ali Tehrani.
  • Tandem Expansion Fund’s Sandy Scott.
  • OMERS Ventures’ Jim Fletcher.

Tickets for next week’s VEF event are still available online.
