Twitter’s chief executive officer, Dick Cosotolo, told Charlie Rose on PBS this week a few details about how the real-time information network perceives itself these days.
Costolo said that Apple “is in many ways a mentor company for us.” He also affirmed that the two companies have “a great relationship.”
Facebook, however—not so much. “We’re very different companies,” he shrugged bluntly.
Interestingly, Twitter now considers itself primarily a mobile company. Yesterday, the social network made significant changes to its iPhone and iPad apps to mixed reviews.
Ironically, while we thought most of the changes were fine, we felt like Twitter became aesthetically more like Facebook. Functionally, of course, the two remain decidedly different.
