Quebec City’s Crowdbase has raised $650,000 in funding from firms iNovia Capital and Real Ventures, as well as entrepreneur and angel Martin-Luc Archambault, who is the CEO of Wajam.
The Canadian startup, yet another one with the word “crowd” in its name, hopes to reinvent enterprise social networks and knowledge management. The company is developing what it calls a “social knowledge platform.”
One area Crowdbase is tapping into is organization. “Crowdbase analyzes and indexes shared content so anyone, at any time, can locate knowledge,” the company explains. “Content is automatically organized into structured topic pages that help employees collaborate more easily.”
Another area is discovery. “It’s now easier to discover expertise from co-workers. Teams can ask questions to receive instant answers and can discover new knowledge by simply browsing user profiles and topic pages,” Crowdbase says.
The company’s service is free but will eventually add paid premium features. The startup will also release a mobile app and launch an API for developers, although the timing of all this has not yet been revealed.
