New Mobile Apps Improve Local and International Travel Services for Canadians

Canadians love to travel. But if you are going somewhere overseas, there’s a good chance you will need travel insurance.

Kanetix, best known for their online and mobile auto insurance comparison tool, launched a free travel app last week. It lets consumers compare up to five travel insurance quotes, ranked lowest to highest.

Users can check out single-trip rates, multi-trip, all inclusive, and trip cancellation insurance coverage. Policy renewal reminders are delivered right to one’s phone. The Kanetix travel app also features weather information, tourist must-sees, a travel checklist, and gesture-controlled destination discovery, where users can shake their phone for a new destination.

Alternatively, if you are planning on staying within the country, Canadian Tire has launched a newly launched iPad app for road trippers. Users can create a virtual garage of their exact vehicle makes and models. This enables quick searches to find compatible parts, product information, videos, product availability, and current pricing. Consumers have the option for sales notifications and auto service reminders. It should help Canadians make sure they are getting fair quotes from mechanics.

How else will you use technology to save money this year?
