Canadian Startup TripWhat Helps Make Your Trips Better

Going on a trip? Waterloo-based TripWhat can help with that.

The Canadian web and mobile app pulls data from eight sources—WikiVoyage, SeatGeek, Google Maps, Facebook, Yelp, UrbanSpoon, Wikipedia, Last.fm—to generate comprehensive information on the city you want to know about. With this app, travellers will never be short of things to see and do wherever they’re headed.

TripWhat, founded by Chris Reid and Alex Black, provides event information, also offers hundreds of guides for cities across North America for newbie explorers. And the more advanced adventurers will enjoy creating their own personal itineraries with MyTrip and can share their travel plans with others.

Right now, the app is only truly effective in more densely populated areas. But with time, should the startup gain traction, the service could become incredibly useful for thousands of cities across the continent.

Travel is one where where mobile devices have made a tremendous impact—can you honestly imagine travelling without your smartphone today?—and TripWhat is well poised to capitalize on that shift.
