Wishpond Reaches 30,000 Customers, Achieves ‘Astronomical’ Revenue Growth

Wishpond is having a great 2013, the Canadian startup revealed to Techvibes.

The Vancouver-based company, which was founded in 2009, just gained its 30,000th customer, nearly 12,000 of which were added this year. And in less than five months, the startup says it increased revenue by more than 2,000 percent, describing its own growth as “astronomical.”

Wishpond credits its growth to international expansion: the company’s products are now available in over 100 countries and in more than 30 languages. International business now counts for 46% of the startup’s revenue, with emerging markets in Latin America and Asia leading the charge. Globally, hundreds of thousands of campaigns have been created through Wishpond.

The company has also seen success on mobile. According to Wishpond, more than one-third of its customers engage with its products via mobile devices.

“We are very excited to see such accelerated growth. Our perpetual development of innovative online marketing products keeps us on target for massive expansion,” says Ali Tajsekandar, CEO of Wishpond. “More businesses around the world are recognizing the incredible ROI attainable through social campaigns.”

Wishpond provides an all-in-one marketing suite that empowers retailers and brands to attract, engage, understand and grow their customer base across mobile, social, online and local channels via servies such as campaigns, ads, customer engagement, and analytics.

Tajsekandar’s idea for Wishpond was sparked by his mother, who ran her own small business for years. “[I saw the] challenges using the traditional advertising mediums like flyers,” Ali explained to Techvibes in an interview in 2011. “I saw the need to help small businesses find a way to market themselves more effectively online—Facebook, Google, etc.—as well as on mobile devices as we are increasingly becoming a mobile society.”
