Two weeks ago Techvibes reported that Canadian Tire had selected BlackBerry 10 smartphones as their primary corporate device and would be deploying “several thousand units in the coming months.”

“With 90 years of history serving Canadians in communities from coast-to-coast, it’s fitting that we’re partnering with another great Canadian company to support our business,” said Eugene Roman, Canadian Tire’s CTO.

The roll-out has begin and Roman is impressed. Canadian Tire began issuing thousands of BlackBerry Q10 smartphones to corporate employees in Toronto on Monday after rolling out Z10 models weeks earlier.

According to Roman the overwhelming majority of the company’s 3,000 corporate users wanted the Q10 with its qwerty keyboard as a replacement for older Bold or Curve devices.

Roman also told ComputerWorld that the most impressive feature of the new BB10 devices is their long battery life, providing 10 to 12 hours on a single charge. “With 10 to 12 hours of battery life, that’s double of every other device we’ve tried,” Roman said. “It’s efficient on the network and still has good security. The battery life is the winner. I have a couple of iPhones, but I can’t live on them.”
