One thing Apple’s mobile platform has always excelled at is keeping its users up to date with the latest version of its operating system.
This week Apple released iOS platform distribution figures for the first time. According to the world’s most valuable technology company, a remarkable 93% of iOS users run the latest iteration, iOS 6.
This is a stark contrast to Android, where just one-third of users run the latest version of Google’s OS. Incredibly, more than a third of users still run Gingerbread, an OS released in 2010, according to stats from Google. Comparatively, only 1% of Apple users run a version of iOS that outdated.
Android is the most fragmented major mobile operating system in the world, but that hasn’t stopped the platform from leading the globe in total marketshare.
