FounderFuel general manager Ian Jeffrey and tough-talkin’ Real Ventures investor John Stokes are hitting the road in September for a seven-date, “Pan-Canadian Pitch Training Workshop for IT Startups.”
The tour will allow startups and entrepreneurs to learn from two of the Canada’s more active accelerator coaches. The PITCH IT Workshop will feature Stokes teaching participants “How to pitch for a seed round,” while Jeffrey’s talk will be called “Deliver a killer pitch.”
“Weʼre on a mission to meet the very best entrepreneurs from coast to coast and help them along the way,” said Jeffrey. “PITCH IT aims to assist entrepreneurs to better articulate their business in a powerful and meaningful way that will cut through the clutter and resonate with investors.”
FounderFuel is switching things up after two years in which it typically travelled to Canadian cities to promote its next cohort. It gave startups a chance to catch a glimpse of what the program would offer while entrepreneurs could chat with Jeffrey and others over beers.
FounderFuel’s Spring 2014 cohort is expected to begin on February 3 while October 15 of this year will serve as the deadline for applications. The cohort’s Demo Day should come around May 1. In the mean time the program could be tweaked, as Jeffrey has expressed in the past that every cohort seems to bring about new changes and new approaches.
This fall PITCH IT should keep the accelerator leaders busy as they seek to teach entrepreneurs. Logically FounderFuel will use this time to scout out potential future cohort companies as well.
Following the “master Classes” startups will have a chance to deliver their pitch to the entire audience for feedback from FounderFuel and Real Ventures. Participating startups can expect “tangible feedback and action items, not to mention the tough love they need,” according to FounderFuel.
“It’s the foundersʼ underlying insight on the opportunity that shapes what a company builds and how it is marketed,” said John, Partner at Real Ventures. “Crafting a captivating story from that insight is a difficult process for many entrepreneurs, but itʼs what separates the good investor pitches from the great.”
