Mobovivo and ESPN Sync Soccer to the Second Screen

Recently Calgary’s Mobovivo and ESPN announced the launch of ESPN Sync, a second screen app for sports fans, accessible on Apple and Android mobile devices.

With ESPN Sync viewers can follow and interact with soccer matches broadcast by ESPN including Brazil 2014, World Cup Qualifiers, Champions League, and the Brazil Cup.

The app delivers a real-time interactive environment able to support a large audience and features complimentary content synced with live sport events broadcast on TV.

Since being launched ESPN Sync has spent the last three weeks as #1 sports app in brazil.

“Sports audiences everywhere are using their smartphones and tablets to get information about games, teams and players,” says Mobovivo founder and CEO Trevor Doerksen. “ESPN is working with Mobovivo to engage audiences on second screens and deliver on that vision.”

The app features a timeline that allows users to engage synchronously with trivia, statistics, voting, videos, rewards and in-context advertising. During live broadcasts, audiences can use the Ask the Announcer feature to receive answers to questions from ESPN personalities.

“With the app in hand, fans can access all the relevant information and statistics they need to stay informed about the teams and players during the live broadcast of matches,” noted Luis Olivalves, New Business Director with ESPN Brasil.

This is the first of several all-new second screen experiences that ESPN Brasil and Mobovivo are working on together. The free app can be downloaded now from the Apple Store, and will be available for Android devices in mid-December 2013.
