Thanks in part to a record-breaking $1 billion in sales in December alone, Apple’s digital App Store saw consumers spent over $10 billion in 2013.
Consequently, third-party developers for Apple’s platform have now earned $15 billion, according to the company.
“We’d like to thank our customers for making 2013 the best year ever for the App Store,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “The lineup of apps for the holiday season was astonishing and we look forward to seeing what developers create in 2014.”
The App Store now has more than one million apps and is available in 155 countries. It also has over 500,000 apps native to the iPad.
Last May, Apple hit 50 billion worldwide app downloads.
