WordPress parent company Automattic struck partnerships with Canadian tech firms to help launch e-commerce tools for its popular blogging platform.

Striking deals with Ottawa-based e-commerce heavyweight Shopify and Toronto’s ShopLocket, as well as Ecwid, WordPress users “will be able to easily embed a storefront into their site with very little setup.”

The blogging platform’s features are available to use immediately. WordPress says the e-commerce tools work similarly to other plug-ins that are available through the dashboard, but noted that it is “not getting into the e-commerce or payments business”—rather, the partners will be handling all of the transactions.

The tools are exclusive to WordPress.com, meaning WordPress.org sites won’t benefit.
