Rogers Communications announced this week the opening of a new Rogers Data Centre in Calgary that gives Canadian and international businesses “a highly reliable and certified data centre presence in Western Canada.”
The facility, called “Calgary_DC3,” is the first Tier III certified data centre in Alberta. It is Rogers Data Centre’s second Tier III centre in Canada.
“We understand the pressures that organizations face when dealing with the management of corporate data and we are proud to be offering a world class data centre here in Canada,” explains AJ Byers, President, Rogers Data Centres. “Regardless of the size or type of business they operate, companies will have access to unmatched offerings and expertise with the assurance that their information is located securely in an outstanding facility.”
Calgary_DC3 is in close enough proximity to Calgary city limits to be used as a primary corporate data centre for that market, according to Rogers, but far enough out to be used as a disaster recovery site. The facility is 85,000 square feet and provides access to both raised floor and business resumption space, with capacity for over 900 cabinets, cooling systems, security measures, and customer support.
With the opening of the new Calgary facility, Rogers now operates data centres in 15 locations across the country. The new facility builds on Roger’s 2013 investment of $700 million in Alberta.
