Sony has raised the price of the PlayStation 4 by $50 in Canada.
In what it ambiguously describes as “responding to changes in the market environment,” the PS4 now costs CAD $450. The game console previously cost $400.
Sony also decided to raise the price of the DualShock 4 controller and the PlayStation camera, each of which now cost $65. These accessories previously cost $60.
“The PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system delivers phenomenal play experiences that will shape the world of games for years to come and has quickly become the next gen console of choice with gamers in Canada,” Sony said in a statement.
The PlayStation has been selling very well in Canada, but our dollar has been hammered recently, which likely explains the sudden and unexpected price increase.
