TV and movie streaming company Hulu made a slew of announcements in New York recently, not the least of which was a partnership with Vancouver-based Immersive Media, a provider of 360-degree and full spherical, interactive video experiences.

Called Hulu 360 ads, the streaming company will offer an Immersive Media-powered video ad that allows users to pan around a 360-degree viewpoint within the ad itself. It’s part of an approach to offer users free, ad-supported television episodes on mobile devices this summer.

Hulu, now with six million users, also revealed plans to make more original content, a strategy that the larger Netflix has seen strong success with.
