Pollster Angus Reid Leaves Vision Critical

Vancouver-headquartered Vision Critical has announced that Dr. Angus Reid is retiring from the position of Executive Chairman.

Reid co-founded Vision Critical with his son Andrew Reid in 2000.

“Vision Critical has become one of the largest and most dynamic firms in the international market research technology space. I am gratified that we have been able to build the company from a start-up to what it is now–a shining star of Canada’s technology landscape,” said Dr. Angus Reid. “I have confidence that our recently enhanced management team will take Vision Critical to the next level.”

Reid plans to pursue innovative, non-partisan approaches to public opinion research via his involvement in the Angus Reid Institute, a Canadian not for profit organization. He will also continue to be an advisor to Vision Critical.

In August 2012, Vision Critical received a $20 million investment from OMERS Ventures, an arm of the Ontario municipal employees’ pension fund.

There remains widespread speculation that the company is preparing for an IPO. The Reid family remains the largest shareholder at Vision Critical.
