Facebook is testing a new feature that would allow users to shop directly from its site.
Following a deal between Pinterest and Shopify, the world’s largest social network is looking to enter the e-commerce space. Members of the world’s largest social network would be presented with “buy” buttons to acquire goods through advertisements or posts on the site, according to Facebook.
This isn’t new territory for Facebook, which now has more than 1.2 billion active users. Facebook Credits, a virtual currency for in-game purchases, was launched with limited success and abandoned in 2012.
Twitter, another major social network, is also dabbling in e-commerce. A partnership with Amazon allows users to shop by hashtag.
