Acquisition Makes Control Favorite at Cascadia Summit

Tonight Startup Week Vancouver wraps up with the Cascadia Summit at the Telus World of Science.

The sold-out Cascadia Summit is Launch Academy’s “premiere event showcasing the most promising startups from Western Canada” and will see 16 startups pitch live in front of a sold-out audience.

According to Launch Academy, more than 100 applications were evaluated by a selection committee of investors and entrepreneurs from Canada and the US. The finalists will present to an panel of judges that includes Dafina Toncheva from US Venture Partners, Sumeet Jain from Intel Capital, and Bill Bryant from Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Among the up-and-coming startups that will be pitching are Techvibes 20 alumni Control Mobile. Yesterday Control announced an acquisition of their own that should impress the judges.

The payments management and analytics company has acquired Pay Pad, the most popular iOS application for businesses collecting payments with Stripe. This makes Control an official Stripe Connect partner.

Control aggregates payment data from payment platforms providing businesses with payment data and alerts that help them manage their business from their mobile device in real time.

“Pay Pad helps thousands of businesses get critical insight into their Stripe payment data. It aligns perfectly with our vision to help businesses succeed through better data,” said Kathryn Loewen, founder and CEO of Control.

“We can’t wait to bring some of the features from our other apps to the existing Pay Pad user base,” added Loewen. “we are focused on equipping our customers with better data, intelligence, revenue generation tools, and revenue protection defenses regardless of whether they run their business from their desktop or the palm of their hand.”

Pay Pad founder Billy Coover will be joining Control in a strategic advisory capacity.

Since launching less than six months ago, Control has been used by more than 4,000 businesses globally. Pay Pad adds to the existing suite of applications that Control offers for both iOS and Android.
