Who is Ready to Rocket in 2016?

Rocket Builders this week released its fourteenth-annual “Ready to Rocket” lists.

These lists profile British Columbia technology companies that are best positioned to capitalize on the technology sector trends that will lead them to faster growth than their peers.

The annual 2016 “Ready to Rocket” lists provide predictions of private companies that will likely experience significant growth, venture capital investment or acquisition by a major player in the coming year across three technology sectors: Information and Communications Technology, Cleantech, and Life Science.

“Over the 14 years of the program, the B.C. technology sector has steadily grown each year, and presents a growing challenge to select and identify the most likely to succeed for our Ready to Rocket lists.” said Geoffrey Hansen, Managing Partner at Rocket Builders. “In recent years, a startup economy has blossomed to give another dimension to the technology sector in B.C. Our Emerging Rockets list enables us to profile those earlier stage companies that are well positioned for investment.”

The 2016 Ready to Rocket ICT list includes Allocdia Software, Kashoo Cloud Accounting, and Recon Instruments.

The cleantech list includes Axine Water Technologies, Saltworks, and Minesense.

The life science list includes Bionic Power and Precision NanoSystems.

2015 Ready to Rocket List Showcases ICT, Cleantech and Life Sciences Sectors

Last week Rocket Builders released its thirteenth annual Ready to Rocket lists of the BC tech companies that are “best positioned to capitalize on the technology sector trends that will lead them to faster growth than their peers.”

Rocket Builders also released results from its 2014 lists, with strong revenue growth across all sectors and 2 companies being acquired – Pulse Energy by Boston based EnerNOC and Medeo Corporation by QHR Corporation.

The annual 2015 Ready to Rocket lists attempts to predict which private companies will likely experience significant growth, venture capital investment or acquisition by a major player in the coming year.

The 2015 lists included over 110 companies across 3 different technology sectors, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Cleantech, and Life Science.

Notable inclusion on the list is a definite rocket, Slack – a company has experienced expontential growth in year one and raised $180 million in venture capital investment to date, valuing it at $1.2 billion.

As part of last week’s announcement Rocket Builders provided an update on the 2014 Ready to Rocket lists. The ICT list performed extremely well with the median growth rate registering 50% and with 4 companies exceeding 100% growth.

And the list as a whole represented the creation of over 287 jobs (51% headcount growth).

The rocketing hiring trend should continue. Of the 2015 Ready to Rocket companies many are agressively hiring including Allocadia, Clio, MediaCore, Recon, Simba, Visier, Aquatic Informatics, and Marketing.ai.

Here are the BC Tech Companies Most Likely to Explode in Growth, Get Funding, or Exit Soon

Rocket Builders today released its 12th annual “Ready to Rocket” lists of British Columbia technology companies that are “best positioned to capitalize on the technology sector trends that will lead them to faster growth than their peers.”

The three lists—which cover the sectors of information and communications technology, cleantech, and life science— provide accurate predictions of private companies that will likely experience significant growth, venture capital investment or acquisition by a major player in the coming year, according to Rocket.

“The technology sector continues to grow in BC and presents a growing challenge to select and identify the most likely to succeed,” said Geoffrey Hansen, Managing Partner at Rocket Builders. “Three elements characterize these ‘most likely to succeed’ high growth firms: a growing market opportunity, a unique competitive position and customer validation of a must-have value proposition.”

“The majority of companies on the Ready to Rocket lists do the majority of their business in the United States,” added Reg Nordman, Managing Partner at Rocket Builders. “Economic growth in the USA was modest (about 2%) in 2013, but is expected to be well over 3% in 2014. This economic boost, along with the weakening Canadian dollar, is expected to give B.C. technology companies a revenue boost next year. In past years when the Canadian dollar weakened, Ready to Rocket companies were able to be more competitive and increase profitability.”

Winners of the ICT list include Clio, ePact Network, Kashoo, Recon, Payfirma, and Wishpond—all tech startups regular Techvibes readers will recognize.

“The number of ICT companies in B.C. continues to grow, with a number of high profile accelerators contributing to this trend,” said Steven Forth, Senior Partner at Rocket Builders. “The ICT sector as a whole has been driven by cloud computing, mobile and social trends and technologies, and we see those factors driving many of the B.C. companies. Of particular interest is the trend of the ‘Internet of Things’ and ‘Big Data’ which seems to be influencing some of the emerging companies.”

Winners of the Cleantech list include Axine Water Technologies and Solegear Bioplastics, also companies Techvibes has covered in the past.

Winners of the Life Science list include Ayogo and Phemi Health, more startups boasting Techvibes coverage.
